I was born near New Lexington, Ohio, and lived most of my childhood on a Christmas tree farm.
I went to grade school at St. Rose of Lima Catholic school, and high school at New Lexington Senior High School.
I finished my senior year in the data processing program at Tri-County Joint Vocational School, while taking
courses at Hocking Technical College (which is what it was called at the time).
Post-Secondary Education
I attended several colleges and universities over the years, including:
- Hocking Technical College
- Ohio University, Lancaster Branch
- University of Detroit
- Creighton University (B.A. in May 1991; M.S. in December 1997; M.F.A. in May 2017)
- University of Nebraska at Lincoln (Ph.D. in December 2013)
Family
I was married on December 16th, 1988, to Karen Lutz, and have been married for nearly 30 years.
My two children, Anna Trimble and Kathleen Kokensparger, are the lights of our lives and are off doing wonderful things
